Quick Core Workout

I just realized this has like 3 colors in the picture... oh well. Either way I am excited to share with you my core workout. This is a pretty quick workout, it only takes about 10 minutes maximum. It is my go to way to calm down after a stressful day. I prefer this workout to others because it targets most parts of the core, instead of ones that are just obliques or just the upper abs.

Try it out and let me know how it goes!

Boston Packing List

I am so excited for spring break this year. I will be going to Boston to tour some colleges and to visit family. I have been looking forward to this trip for about a year now and I am so pumped to actually go. I am going to be there for 5 days. I am starting to plan what to bring on the trip, but since I haven't been to Boston in about 7  years, so I really no idea of what to expect. Here is the tentative packing list that I have for Boston. I have some running things on there because I am planning (hoping?) that I will have time to run at my hotel. If you have any comments on what I'm bringing or should add please let me know in the comments!

1. The Perfect Bag
I will be bringing my Kate Spade Cobble Hill Ellen cross body. This cross body has been my go to bag for campus tours. It is big enough to hold all of the papers you're given and anything else you might want. I love the neutral color because it matches everything I wear, but it is still unique enough for it not to match everyone else's bag.

2. A Baseball Hat
I am a baseball hat type of girl. Any time that is appropriate for a hat, I'm wearing one. The being said a Midwest winter isn't an appropriate time so I am so excited to break out my Vineyard Vines Hat

3. Workout Clothes
The soccer seasons starts the week before spring break so that means that even if i'm technically on break I still need to be working out. I'll just be bringing my running shoes and Nike Shorts, as well as a couple random t-shirts. (The shorts might end up being worn all the time but no big deal)

4. Rain Coat
Everything I have read has said to bring a rain coat because the weather changes a lot. I'll be bringing a Tommy Hilfiger coat that I picked up at an outlet a while ago. This way it can double as a rain coat and a fashion piece.

5. A Pullover
The average temperature for Boston this time of year is around 50 degrees. That is perfect Shep Shirt weather.

6. Sunglasses
I always bring sunglasses on every vacation just because you never really have an idea of how sunny it is going to until you're there. I've found that all of my sunglasses look the same, so i'll probably just throw in a random pair last minute.

7.  Walking Shoes
Every single thing that I have read has said to bring good walking shoes to Boston. I can not decide on whether to bring my Nikes  or my sperrys. They both are good for walking around, so the one that is picked will be based off of what matches my outfits.

8. Vest
Like I said earlier the weather is normally around 50 degrees which means I will need some layering pieces. I figure vests are a good way to go because they aren't so warm that I would sweat a lot, but they are enough to stop me from freezing. My black vest will be perfect to match everything.

Any recommendations on what to bring?

Let's Suit Up

Swimsuits are by far and way the best part about summer. I love lounging around the beach and pool just doing nothing. I mainly wear printed swimsuits, but I did try to find some nice looking solid ones as well. I normally get a new swimsuit every year so I am starting to look for the best one. Last year I got one from Lilly Pulitzer and it is by far my favorite one I have ever had. I found 10 of the most adorable swimsuits that I just had to share!

Which one is your favorite?

Outfit: Spring Stripes

Even though technically it isn't spring, it sure feels like it. In two weeks the weather became 35 degrees warmer. 50 degree weather is so hard to pick out clothes for, but I have found that a light vest over a button down is perfect. The ground is really muddy so Hunters this time of year are a must. I am so ready for short weather but for now cuffed sleeves will have to do.

Spring Nail Polish Colors

Nail polish is one of those simple things in life that I absolutely love. I never paint my finger nails since they always get ruined when I play soccer, but I love seeing my toes with cute colors on them. This being said I think one should always wear season appropriate colors. For the spring I think pastels are the best. Brand wise I normally pick Essie because I find the color of the polish always matches the color of the bottle unlike other brands.

What is your favorite color for this spring?

Spring Wish List

// Jack Rogers // Gingham Shirt // Red Chinos // Sunglasses //  T-Shirt // Baseball Hats // Long Sleeve // Running Shorts (use code: Platten15 for 15% off //

Spring is just around the corner so that means it is time for a spring wishlist. This is actually a spring/summer one because spring doesn't actually exist in Wisconsin. There is only summer, fall and winter. I absolutely love warm weather clothes. Out of these items I want the Krass & Co shorts or the Cabin Crew the most. Both of these items I have been wanting since last summer so I will probably be getting them for myself!

Tips for a great Staycation

You might be looking at the title and saying, "Duh, I know how to have a staycation, all I have to do is stay home." That is technically true but have a good staycation is something that can be fun. I consider myself a somewhat expert on the art of having a good staycation. Last year was the first year I ever got to go anywhere for spring break. For the most part, I stay home for Christmas break and spring break. This year I am going someplace for break, but that doesn't mean I can't share my expertise on having a good time at home.

1. This might seem obvious to you, but I can guarantee that your staycation will stink if you attitude does.
2. This is something I always forgot to do, but if you know ahead of time which of your friends will be in town you don't have to deal with texting people just to find out that they are in Mexico or where ever. This way you can make plans with people before break even starts.
3. This idea looks horrible right? Well it won't look so bad when your friends come home and complain about how much homework they have and you're just chilling out because you finished everything like a week ago.
4. You know that thing in your city that you've always heard about but never done, yeah go do it. Even if it is the weirdest thing ever it's something totally different and exciting.
5. Movies come out all of the time, so go to one that just came out.
6. Doing sometime with your parents might seem like nothing to you, but its surprising what a nice coffee date with mom or a lunch with dad will do to make your day better.
7. Not good at cooking? Who cares! I bet that everyone in your family will be thrilled when they come home to see a plate of cookies on the table. Best part about this is that you can eat as many as you want and no one will every know....
8. Watch that TV show on Netflix that you've been wanting to watch. I know that I've been dying to watch Parks and Rec, but never have the time. So go ahead and binge watch a couple episodes.
