Current Obsession: Baseball Hat

My favorite thing right now happens to be baseball hats. They are useful in so many different ways. There are several reasons why you should have at least one.
1)Baseball hats help keep the sun out of your eyes, and it protects your skin (double win).
2) They also can help if you are having a bad hair day (tip: brush your hair backwards, with no part, so you don't get hat hair).
3) They are a fun accessories to change your outfit, or to show support for your school, sports teams, or even brands.
4) Add one to your outfit, and it makes you look instantly a little sportier.
5) They allow you to express yourself, without being over the top.

I own a Navy Vineyard Vines hat, a Wisconsin Badgers hat, and a Winona hat. My favorite one is my Vineyard Vines hat because it isn't structured in the front which makes is more comfortable. The the little whale is also super cute.

Here are some of the baseball hats on my wish list.

Monograms are always a cute idea to add a personal touch. You can customize this hat in many different colors with different treads, and you also pick the style of monogram. This way no one can ever steal your hat! You can get this hat here.

I have been wanting this hat for so long! You can't see this in the picture but the strap on the back is made of leather, which helps make it different from many other hats. I also like how it's completely made in the USA. You can get this hat here (the red is due to restock July 2nd)

Harding-Lane sells the absolute cutest hats ever. The image is made with needlepoint embroidery. There are many different images on their hats ranging from dogs, to the USA, to sports figures. I love this hat because the color is unique (Keys Green), and there are no other hats they I could find that look like this. You can get this hat here.

This hat in lemonade has been on my wish list for quite a long time. The light yellow color is such a bright and sunny color, which is perfect for summer. The whale on the front is adorable and the contrast between the navy and yellow makes it stand out. I have this hat in Navy and I can say that the quality is great and I just love it. You can get this hat here.

What type of baseball hat do you want?

National Wear Your Lilly Day

I am so excited for National Wear Your Lilly Day for two reasons, 1) it is the first day of summer, and 2) who doesn't love an excuse to wear Lilly! I love Lilly Pulitzer for the bright patterns and the playfulness in every item. I also love Lilly because the brand started (as many may know) when trying to make a dress that would hide the orange juice stains that would find their way onto her dresses. I always love companies that have a great story on how they started. Of course, the current clothes happen to be the best part of all, here are some of my favorite picks at the moment.

            1) Shorts  2) Shorts  3) Romper  4) Dress  5) Skort  6) Dress  7) Dress  8) Agenda
I had to take a picture with my phone because it happens to match my shirt perfectly!

Here is what I own of Lilly Pulitzer, but the collection is sure to grow soon.

Here is what I am wearing today, which happens to be my favorite way to wear Lilly shorts.
Shorts: Lilly Pulitzer  Shirt: Ralph Lauren Polo Belt: American Eagle   Shoes: Sperry

I always like to wear my Lilly shorts with a solid v-neck because the shirt will still look cute but it will not be to busy of an outfit. I normally wear Sperrys or Birkenstock with these because of the solid brown color to also help keep the outfit from being crazy. Wearing Lilly always makes may day seem a little brighter, and maybe that's because of the fabulous colors.

What Lilly are you wearing today?

Books to Read this Summer

Reading one of those things that I don't always have time for during the school year but I absolutely love to do. I love to walk out to my hammock and pick up a good book and read for hours. When I am at the pool or beach I don't normally swim or tan, but I am always reading some new book. I love reading because it can transport you to a new place and time, and help you forget any problems you have at the moment. I have below some of my recommend books for you to read.

Code name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
I just read this book for the first time and I absolutely love it. half of the book is in one persons point of view, and the second half is in her best friends point of view. The book takes place during WWII, one girl is captured by the Nazis and the other is hiding in a farmers barn. This book is one I couldn't put down and spent my whole day reading it.

The devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
This is one of my all time favorite books. I watched the movie first, but the books is better (if that is even possible). In the book, you get to see more of Andy's personal life and how her job hurts it. The ending is totally different, because Andy gets fired for something she says, and goes back to her old life.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby is a book everyone should read! Its a classic, that no matter how many times you have read it, it is always a great book. I adore the  love story between Gatsby and Daisy, especially when they go back in time to when they first met. The description I gave didn't do this book any justice but I strongly recommend you read it.

Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin
This book is the classic beach read. A girl (Rory) goes to be with her aunt for a summer in the Hamptons, by agreeing to be the Rules (the rich family) errand girl. She meets Isabel, the Rules daughter, and over the book gets to know her. The Rules become like a family to her until a great tragedy happens, breaking the family apart. I recommend this book because is not a hard read, but it is certainly entertaining.

Famous Last Words by Katie Alender
Talk about a murder mystery, this book is one for sure. Willa has moved into a old mansion in Hollywood, with her mom and new stepdad. This happens right around the time that the Hollywood Killer gets into the news. He (or she) is killing young actresses and placing them into death scenes straight out of the movies. Willa becomes convinced the house is haunted as the deaths make the news. These events can't be connected... or are they?

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
This book is such a sweet book. It is a true Romeo and Juliet type of story. This book is on many recommended reading lists for a reason. It shows true struggles in a persons life and how one other person can change everything. This book is full of life lessons that every person should understand, like you don't really know someone until you get to know them, and to stand up for what is right.

Now that you have seen my suggestions, go to the library, or go to the book store and pick up one for uou to enjoy. Do you have any recommendations for me to read?

4th of July favorites

I love 4th of July! It is one of my favorite holidays because I get to spend it with my family and friends. Normally what we do is set off some fireworks and have a BBQ, but this year we will be in Florida so we will be doing somethings a little differently. Since 4th of July is nearing I thought that it is about time for me to share some of my favorite pieces of clothes for it. It might seem early but this way you have time to go out and get them!

This Striped Hoodie is number  one on my wish list for summer. I love the thin stripes, and by being red stripes, its totally different from everything that I own.

I actually own these American Flag Shorts, and I think that they are perfect for the fourth! I love these because they are super soft and they have a more feminine design compared to many other athletic shorts. They can be paired with just a plain white t-shirt and look great. You could also pair them with a red, grey, or navy shirt.

I am in love with this hat from Great Lakes Clothing company. (this is their picture, and I think its so cute!) This hat was made by Harding-Lane, which is a company that is known for their needle point hats. If you don't have a hat yet for this summer, I recommend this one.

This shirt (their picture) is yet another amazing product from Great Lakes Clothing Company that is perfect for 4th of July. My favorite part is the flag on it. I love how the stripes are ropes. It adds such a fun nautical theme to the whole thing.

Lastly, these socks are just so fun it's hard not to buy them right away! For $6 they are just a cheap, quick way to make your outfit festive.

Now I can't wait to get all dressed up for the fourth! All of these items are prefect for camp fires, fireworks, parades, and everything else!

What are you planning on wearing this 4th of July?

A Little Bit About Me

Hi, I'm Maddie!

I thought of the idea for this blog in the middle of my sophomore year of high school. I wanted to be able to share my love of many different things with others. These "loves" would include travel, organization, and all things preppy. These pictures are just showing some of the things I like.

Lilly Pulitzer has been one of my favorite brands ever since my grandma bought me a pair of pants from there when I was 7. I got the shorts on my spring break trip there this year. They have now become my favorite shorts.

Door County (the Cape Cod of the Midwest)  is one of my favorite places. My family always goes there when we need a break from our busy schedules.
This is another picture from Door County.

National Doughnut Day just happened recently and this is what treated myself to. No I did not eat all of these, if that is what any of you are thinking. I will be posting more pictures of food since good food is always a pretty picture.

Living in the midwest has made me a HUGE packer fan. Packer games aren't the most stylish event, or place to wear those new shoes, but they are sure a lot of fun.

Now I have told you a little bit about me and I can't wait to tell you more as I build this blog.

Maddie
