Outfit: Elephants n' Sunshine

(My dog really just really wanted some attention)

Last weekend was abnormally hot. I mean like 75 degrees. I was so happy that I could break out my Lilly shorts. I got this pair in the After Party sale this winter so I was so excited that I could finally wear them. Pairing a button with the shorts always makes me feel very put together. Since it was the weekend I wasn't wearing any makeup but it makes me so excited to see that my freckles are starting to come out! It was so nice to have warm weather so I hope it will stay around for a while.

Top Workout Clothes of Spring

This spring I have been seeing some really cute workout clothes! I recently got the light blue pair of Nike running shorts and I love them! This color is perfect for this time of year and it matches almost every color. I also have been really liking the graphics this spring. Most workout clothes are pretty plain looking so I really like the patterns. In the summer I primarily wear workout clothes so I might find a few of these in my closet in the future. I will definitely style them and take pictures if I do.

So which is your favorite?

College Tour: Tufts University

As you may know from last weeks post, I went to Boston for spring break. When I was there I toured Northeastern University, Boston College, and Tufts University. I didn't really care for Northeastern, but I did like BC a lot. Overall though, Tufts was my favorite, which is why I will be sharing my trip.

Before the tour I went out for lunch and had an amazing calzone. It was filled with different types of cheeses.

All of the buildings at Tufts are red brick which makes it a really pretty campus... even in the rain. It was pouring rain the whole time which makes for a miserable campus tour.

This patio is right outside of its student center and I can already see myself enjoying a nice day out on it.

This just made me smile.

I have always loved the idea of a school object that people paint. It seems to be a fun way to advertise and hang out with people in your club or group. In the rain it made for a bright spot on a dreary day.

Tufts has a ton of green space which is really important to me. A large grassy area to hang out is one of the things that I know I need in a college.

I love elephants so it is just fitting that Tufts is an elephant. The story about Jumbo is so cute that it is enough to make me want to go there all by itself. You can read the story here

Even though I can't say that I will for sure be going to Tufts, it is currently my first choice for where to go to college. I love almost everything about it and it is right near family so I will always have someone to visit.

Instagram Lately

Lets just say Whole Foods makes some good macarons.

This picture might be a little blurry but that only because I was trying to hide the fact that I was taking it in the first place :)

Some times breakfast is too good looking not to share.

I thought I would share some of this months insta pics. These are everywhere from the first day of spring, to Boston, to breakfast dates. If you're not following me, my username is classyandcleverblog. This way you can make sure to see all of my Instagram pictures.

Boston Trip Review

For spring break this year I was lucky enough to get to go to Boston to tour colleges and visit family. I was there for five days and had a blast every minute.  Two days were spent downtown going to museums, walking the Freedom Trail and going to the park. Here is a peak into what I did in Boston. (warning: Picture overload)

While in Boston I toured Boston College, Northeastern University and Tufts University. I didn't like Northeastern that much since it was right in the city. But I really liked both BC and Tufts. I am hoping that next week I will be have a blog post about my time at Tufts.

My family went to the Museum of Science as well as the Museum of Fine Arts. The MFA (first two pictures) had a really neat exhibit with fashion made of weird materials and textures. I also liked seeing some of the Monets in person since he is one of my favorite impressionists. Even though I'm not that into science I really liked an exhibit called Micro and Macro which featured pictures of really big and small things and you had to guess which was which. I definitely spent a lot of time in that room.

(Papyrus)

(Lush)

(Whole Foods)

You simply cannot go on vacation without shopping. We spend some time shopping which was a ton of fun. I got to go to Whole Foods and it made me so happy since I love their desserts. More importantly I finally got to go to a Vineyard Vines Store. There isn't one it Wisconsin so I have been waiting to go for quite some time. I ended up going to two of them which was perfectly fine with me.

The last day we went to the Public Gardens. The gardens were so pretty, even if the lake was drained and there was no leaves on the trees. Of course we had to take pictures with the ducks because why no be tourists? I think it was so cute that they were dressed up in their Easter finery. It was the nicest weather of our trip so I had a good time walking around and admiring the garden.

(Massachusetts State House)

(Grave yard of John Hancock, victims of Boston Massacre, and many others)

After the park, My family walked part of the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is a path around Boston (marked by the red line) that takes one to all of the historic monuments. I loved seeing the graveyards because it shows history in a different way. (think women and children). It was such a nice walk that takes you through the North End.

(Boston from Prudential Tower)

(I love the Cobblestones)

This was one of my favorite spring breaks and I absolutely cannot wait to go back. Boston has quickly become one of my favorite cities. I am so grateful that I got to go on this trip and I fully recommend that you go if you get the chance.

Best of March

// Perfume // Nail Polish // Birkenstock // Shirt // Parka //

March, oh March. You have a crazy month. Last week we had a snow storm, but at the beginning of the month it was 60 degrees. The insane weather is the main reason I don't have too many clothes on my favorites this month due me not being able to wear the same type of outfit for more than a week at a time. I did get a striped shirt for my trip to Boston and I am in love with it. It is the softest shirt I own, American Eagle you did a good job. In our brief spell of warm weather I was able to break out my Birkenstocks. At my school you can always tell when it's spring because all the girls (and some guys) are wearing their birks.
My school soccer season started late this month. I'm so pumped because this is by far and away my favorite time of year. What's the best part of the season you my ask? Well, the parkas!  Since the weather can get a bit chilly we have team parkas and they are my favorite thing ever. Sometimes I feel that they are the only reason I play soccer.  Btw don't be to surprised if the number of posts go down for a little bit if I get too busy.
March, what is so special about March? Well if you guessed March Madness and Girl Scout cookies then you'd be right. Last year was the first time I had ever really gotten into March Madness and now I love it. I don't know anything about basketball so this year my bracket is based off of which college i'd rather go to. It's going pretty well, in case you were wondering. If you've never had Girl Scout cookies then you are missing out on life. I love the classic flavors like Thin Mints and Samoas the best. I could eat a whole box in one sitting if I could.
Summer is on my mind right now, so I've been using nail polish and perfume to pretend it's summer. Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs is my favorite perfume, I've used it almost everyday this month. It is just such a light and sweet perfume that it's like stepping into summer. Okay not really, but the idea is there. On my toes I have had Bikini so Teeny by Essie. I love the color. Light blue is quickly becoming my favorite color so it's no surprise to me that this is my favorite nail polish of the moment.

See you in April!

The Preppy Girl Tag

I'm sure many of you have heard of the preppy girl tag, but if not it's a bunch of questions aimed for a preppier person. I have been seeing this done all over YouTube and have been wanting to do it. So lets get started!

What's you definition or preppy?
I think that preppy is being classy and put together-in both actions and style.

What's your all time favorite brand?
My all time favorite brand would have to be Vineyard Vines. I stumbled across this brand around a year ago and fell in love with it (it helped that I love the whale logo). Vineyard Vines beats out Lilly Pulitzer just because it is more wearable where I live since the Midwest is just too cold for a lot of the year to wear Lilly.

What is your favorite Lilly print?
My favorite Lilly print is a tie between Blue Heaven and Palm Reader. Palm Reader is more of a wild print with a lot of colors. It is so bright and happy looking. Blue Heaven is a more calm print that is less in your face, but I love it because it reminds me of the ocean.

Favorite preppy YouTuber?
I have just started getting into watching YouTuber, so I haven't seen many. My favorite that I have seen would have to be Country and Class. I love her hauls and I think she has preppy style nailed to a T.

Jack Rogers or Sperrys?
There is no question with this one, Sperrys. I don't own a pair of Jacks, but I might happen to own 6 pairs of Sperrys. I wear them all year round in any weather.

Jeans or Khakis?
Jeans for sure, and that could be because for my time in private school because I had to wear khakis everyday.

Opinion on Oxfords?
Love Love Love oxfords (the shirts). I wear them at least once a week. My favorites are from Polo, but I have some from American Eagle that are really nice. I wear mine with vest or layered under sweaters. In my opinion, one can never have too many button downs.
Duck Boots, Riding Boots, or Hunters?
I love all of these and where each of them at least once a week. I would to say Duck Boots. I don't the L.L. Bean pair, but I have the Sperry Salt Water Duck Boots which I absolutely love and would recommend to everyone.

Navy or Black?
Navy, no question. I don't really own a lot of black and I just think that navy looks better on me and matches more of my clothes.

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you love J.Crew?
7, I only have a 2 pairs of chinos from there. At J.Crew, it is either a hit or a miss on whether I like the clothes. Also, it is a little pricey for me especially when I buy a lot of my own clothes.

Favorite Ralph Lauren clothing item?
My favorite Ralph Lauren Clothing item would have to be the button down shirts. They are nice and heavy shirts, perfect for the winter and cool spring time. There are so many colors and I just want all of them! Did you see the outfit with one of my button down shirts, if not check it out here!

Pearls or Bows?
Pearls for sure. I don't like bows, but I wear my pearls everyday in the school year.

Maddie
